Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario Bros. is a platform video game released in 1985 by Nintendo for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It was directed and produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and serves as a follow-up to the 1983 arcade title Mario Bros., while also marking the beginning of the Super Mario series.

Players take control of Mario, the main hero, as he journeys through the Mushroom Kingdom to stop Bowser and rescue Princess Toadstool. In multiplayer mode, a second player controls Mario’s brother Luigi, who shares the same abilities and role in the adventure. Gameplay is presented from a side-scrolling viewpoint, with players progressing to the right and completing each stage by reaching the flagpole at the end.

The game is widely regarded as one of the most influential and acclaimed video games of all time, especially praised for its responsive controls and level design. With over 58 million copies sold globally, it ranks among the best-selling video games ever. Together with the NES, it played a major role in revitalizing the video game industry after the 1983 crash and helped establish the side-scrolling platformer as a dominant genre. Its music is also frequently recognized as one of the most memorable soundtracks in gaming.

Super Mario Bros. Remastered

Super Mario Bros. Remastered is an open-source fan-remake created by JHDev2006 (Joe H). The game reimagines four different versions of Super Mario Bros. while introducing additional content and various quality-of-life enhancements. It also incorporates features from Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, including modes like You Vs. Boo and Challenge Hunt, which are extended to the Lost Levels and Special versions as well.

In addition, the remake includes an integrated level editor, enabling players to design stages inspired by nearly every included version of the game, with the exception of All Night Nippon. Custom levels can be shared and downloaded directly through the in-game Level Share Square.
