Description

Quest for Glory II: Trial by Fire is a role-playing adventure game, first released in 1990 for MS-DOS and Amiga. It serves as the** sequel to "Hero's Quest: So You Want to Be a Hero"**. Developed by Sierra, the game originally used a text parser, similar to the early King's Quest games.

The story draws inspiration from a variety of Middle Eastern myths and tales, including elements from Arabian Nights. Set in the city of Shapeir and its surrounding desert landscape, the game introduces players to the Katta, cat-like humanoid creatures who inhabit the region. Picking up directly after the events of the first game, Quest for Glory II follows the newly crowned Hero of Spielburg as he travels by flying carpet with his companions—Abdulla Doo, Shameen, and Shema—to the desert city of Shapeir. The city faces a grave threat from elemental forces of fire, earth, wind, and water, while the Emir Arus al-Din of Shapeir’s neighboring city, Raseir, has gone missing, and the city has fallen under oppressive rule.

In 2008, AGD Interactive released an unofficial remake (sometimes titled as "VGA") of the game, utilizing the Adventure Game Studio engine. This version, available for download here, brings several upgrades over the original, including enhanced graphics and sound, as well as a shift from the text parser to a more traditional point-and-click interface.
