About GTA Vice City

Second installment of the "GTA 3 trilogy", GTA Vice City takes place in Vice City (**Miami **equivalent) in the year 1986, and concerns the exploits of protagonist Tommy Vercetti as he rises to become Vice City's major criminal power. The game was initially released in 2002 on PS2, then in 2003 on PC/Xbox.

GTA Vice City, with its improvements over GTA 3 (better story, better map, bikes, "Scarface" feeling, 1980's music...) was a major success, is the fourth best-selling PlayStation 2 game of all time in the United States.

A remaster titled "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – The Definitive Edition" was released in 2021. But there is also this fan-remake.

The Next Gen Edition

It's a fangame and an unofficial remake made by the "Revolution Team", a russian group of talended developers. They have ported Vice City to the engine of GTA 4, the RAGE engine, and offered fans a huge number of visual and gameplay improvements that Grove Street Games could not implement in the official remaster, The Definitive Edition.

Porting the game from RenderWare to the GTA 4 engine turned out to be a challenging task. The developers not only had to transfer the Vice City map, but also rewrite all the missions and gameplay features from scratch. The GTA 4 engine has given this Vice City remake new features and realistic gameplay elements. Tommy has finally learned to swim!

This isn't the first time a group has tried to revive and modernize an old GTA game, but it's the first time a project of this scale has been completed. Kudos to Revolution Team.
