Hitman: Blood Money

Hitman: Blood Money is a stealth-action game developed by IO Interactive. It is the fourth main entry in the Hitman franchise.

The narrative centers on professional assassin Agent 47. The story is framed through interviews between a journalist and a former FBI director, who recounts how his agency pursued 47 over a two-year investigation. This installment also marks Agent 47's move to the United States, where most of the missions take place.

Blood Money introduced several gameplay enhancements. Players can now climb over obstacles, disarm opponents, engage in improved hand-to-hand combat, and use non-player characters as human shields. The game also features an upgrade system, allowing players to enhance weapons and equipment with various modifications.

Each mission offers creative opportunities to eliminate targets, including staged "accidents" that make deaths appear unintentional. A dynamic notoriety system tracks the player's performance: reckless actions, being caught on surveillance cameras, or leaving witnesses alive will increase Agent 47's notoriety, making him easier to recognize in future missions. Completing objectives cleanly and quietly keeps suspicion to a minimum.

Upon release, Blood Money received widespread praise for its visual design, storytelling, refined gameplay mechanics, voice performances, and darker atmosphere. Over time, it has developed a strong cult following and is frequently cited by critics and gaming publications as one of the greatest video games ever made.
