The story begins in Iceland, where a Special Air Service recovery mission ends in catastrophe. James Bond, then serving as a Navy aircrewman, is the only survivor after the team is ambushed. Guided by an MI6 handler, he continues the mission alone and discovers a remote research facility investigating a crashed satellite. The site has already been taken over by a heavily armed mercenary group, forcing Bond to make difficult decisions. Ignoring his orders, he launches a rescue operation to save the captured scientists and prevent sensitive technology from falling into enemy hands.
